Karen Christina Jones is a TANYS (Theatre Association of New York State) award winning director and an active participant of the Upstate theatre and film scene. Along with being a Board Member of Our Own ProductionS, Inc., Miss Jones has directed and produced productions of Smokers, Godspell, For Colored Girls , A Raisin in the Sun (Our Own ProductionS) TANYS, and The Man Who Came to Dinner (Classic Theater Guild) TANYS, Lovers and Other Strangers (Spotlight Players). As an actor, Miss Jones has been in productions of Doubt (Local Artists Guild of Saratoga), The Wiz (Our Own ProductionS, Inc.) TANYS, The Tempest (Classic Theater Guild) TANYS, and Home Again (Confetti Stage) TANYS. Miss Jones received an Excellence in Direction Award from the Theatre Association of New York State for "A Soldier's Play" in April 2013 and for Excellence in Ensemble Work for Director, Cast and Crew for Classic Theater Guild's production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Miss Jones directed and produced a sold-out production of Ntozake Shange's for colored girls who considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf for the African American Cultural Center of the Capital Region in March 2014.
